The public is invited to make use of our Research Room, where we have available many historical documents—both public and private—from our extensive collection. The Society would like to extend its gratitude to Dave Strickler, who was instrumental in cataloging our library as well as our collections of County newspapers and photographs.
Our document collection consists of:
-
Early County newspapers
-
A comprehensive collection of news clippings and documents, filed by subject heading
-
Reference materials such as County directories and census records
-
A small library focused on County history
-
County road files and maps
-
Early County court documents
-
Mexican period Expedientes (records of land grants)
-
Early American period correspondence and papers
-
An expansive collection of photographs
We are continually updating our current collections as well as cataloging additional holdings as we receive them. Indexes to our collections, if available, are provided here for the public to aid in their research needs.
The Public Research Room is located in the lower level of the Historical Museum and is available Wednesday thru Friday from 10 am to 4 pm, or by appointment depending on the availability of our volunteer docents.
