T he Dallidets' were well versed in botany. The Mediterranean garden still includes some original trees and shrubs - the two large (now over 125 feet tall) redwood trees were brought as seedlings from the Santa Cruz mountains. The memorial rose garden was once dedicated to Paul Dallidet by member of the Historical Society.
The arbor, completed in 1958, is a replica of the original grape arbor. It was a gift of Anita Hathway, the first president of the Society.
The bricked patio area and walkways, along with other conveniences, were projects built by the San Luis Obispo Noontime Kiwanis Club. Many volunteers, including Explorer Scouts and Eagle Scouts, have donated hours of labor to maintain and improve the property over the years. The SLO Gardeners have helped with the upkeep of the garden since 1988.
