The San Luis Obispo County Historical Society is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the study and preservation of San Luis Obispo County history. The Society operates the Museum, with budgetary aid from the County of San Luis Obispo . The Society employs the staff and provides the Museum volunteers who form the Docent Committee. Docents attend training classes free of charge and regularly make guided historical trips throughout the state.
The San Luis Obispo County Historical Society holds regular meetings during the year at sites throughout the County. You are invited to become a member by completing the membership form, at the County Historical Museum or by calling the Museum at 805/543-0638.
